BV Pickleball is a club that started in 2019 striving to encourage this game in the valley. We started small with four members, and have grown! Our goal is to find a long term venue for indoor play in the winter months, and to also find venues for outdoor play. We are affiliated with Pickleball Canada/BC, and encourage club membership. You can find more information on this by emailing the club: bvpickleball@gmail.com.

Our WINTER season indoor venues are posted on www.playtimescheduler.com. We rent several different indoor gyms and are posted on the Playtime Scheduler for available drop in spots. All indoor players must be members of Pickleball Canada/B.C.

Our OUTDOOR venue is located in Telkwa, B.C. (about 10 km from Smithers) 1190 Cottonwood street. There are 4 dedicated pickleball courts, and two tennis courts.

You can view our outdoor court schedule as seen below.

There are specific club play times and public play times.

The Two Rivers Outdoor Multi Sport Courts were newly built in 2025 with the generous donations from local club members and grants from: Regional District of Bulkley Nechako, Prince Rupert Port Authority, Bulkley Valley Youth Sports Foundation and the Village of Telkwa

and many local businesses who supported this project!!

About

Pickleball is a Social Activity

Because a pickleball court is smaller than a tennis court, gameplay allows players to be close enough to one another that they can hold conversations. So, if you’re looking to bond with your family or have an outing with friends new or old, pickleball makes it easy to do just that while also giving you the ability to fit in a fun workout.

If you are looking for some great exercise for your mind and body, pickleball can’t be beat. Playing pickleball allows you to work on your balance, agility, reflexes, and hand-eye coordination without putting excessive strains on your body. Pickleball is a wonderful alternative for older players who used to play tennis, but have physical limitations such as hip, shoulder, knee, or other joint problems.

What is pickleball? Pickleball is a paddleball sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, much like a wiffle ball, with 26-40 round holes, over a net. The five rules of pickleball are that the ball must stay inbounds, there should be one bounce per side, serving must be done at the baseline, the serve can't land in the no-volley zone, and the game ends at 11, 15, or 21 points.
